Mulch cut mowing

The mower is designed to chop grass clippings into tiny pieces. As long as the lawn receives regular maintenance and is not overgrown, it will leave a tidy cut, and the clippings will decompose. With the proper frequent mowing schedule, you won't be able to tell the difference between lawn mowing using a catcher or mulch cut.

If the lawns are overgrown, the side chute plug of the mower will be opened so that the mower can still cut thick or overgrown lawns. However, the clippings will not be mulched, leaving messy work. The lawns can be tamed back after several scheduled regular mowing services.

We currently can't collect clippings or take them away. Unfortunately, our services don’t include gardening, tree cutting, hedge trimming, or any other odd jobs beyond mulch cut mowing. Additionally, we don’t offer ride-on mowing services at this time.

Free Quotes, How the pricing is established?

An experienced lawn mowing operator will need to assess the lawns first before we can determine the price of our lawn mowing service and will not provide a price over the phone, text, or email without inspecting the lawns. The quote may be influenced by several factors, including the thickness or length of the grass, any obstacles on the lawn, such as outdoor furniture that needs to be moved, the terrain of the lawn, and whether it is a simple flat area with four corners or a complex garden requiring more maneuvering, or is situated on a slope. Ultimately, it depends on how long the job will take. Please be aware that the quoted price may change or increase based on how quickly it was accepted; a quote provided last week may no longer be valid if the grass has grown thicker since then.

Here are some things to consider before hiring lawn mowing services.​

• Is your property and lawn too large to manage with a domestic lawn mower from a giant retail store?

• Do you have all the necessary tools and equipment, such as a dependable lawn mower, line trimmer, and blower? Consider how you’ll store your tools and the costs of maintenance. Whether we like it or not, any mechanical equipment we use will eventually need repairs; at times, repair costs may be nearly as high as purchasing a new machine. In some instances, repairs could be impossible due to the unavailability of necessary parts, especially for domestic lawn mowers from giant retailer stores. A lawn mowing business operator generally visits a repair shop and depends on a lawn mower mechanic, no matter the brand or quality of the equipment, due to normal wear and tear.

• Did your doctor advise you to stop lawn mowing because of physical or medical conditions? Is it still okay to mow in the strong New Zealand sunlight?

• Are you willing and able to mow your lawns on weekends or days off? Or would you prefer to spend your free time with family and friends, going out, enjoying your hobbies, or playing sports?

Paying for lawn mowing service vs. doing the lawns yourself?

Tiny to Small lawns from 0 to 50 square meters

Medium lawns from 50 to 100 square meters

Prices for small to tiny lawns start at $40 and vary based on the lawn's thickness and the frequency of mowing services.

• The minimum flat fee for our services is $40. The lawn mowing professional must use petrol to drive and spend valuable time getting to the sites for mowing. Additionally, there are costs associated with tool maintenance, consumables, and tax duties (no, we won’t accept cash payment offers to avoid tax in exchange for a discount).

• We understand that other lawn mowing service providers on Facebook Marketplace may offer their services for $20 or even less. However, this does not mean we are overcharging; they are undercutting prices to gain business quickly.

• All of our services and services indicated here are for mulch cut mowing services only.

Accepting or declining the quote?

• Thank you for accepting our quote. Please contact us, and we will work on your lawns as soon as the first payment is received. Please note that the quote or price may change or increase later if not accepted in a timely manner due to changes in lawns or grass growth. For example, a quote given last week may no longer be valid, as the lawns have grown since then, and there may be additional charges or a new quote may be required.

• Is our price or quote too high? It's alright to disagree with our pricing, and we understand that customers have a certain threshold they are willing to pay for lawn care. Please feel free to decline the quote without asking for discounts, haggling, or trying to lowball our pricing. You are also welcome to request quotes from other lawn mowing contractors. Please note that experienced lawn mowing contractors typically won't engage in price wars with other operators offering lower quotes and will move on.

Overgrown lawns, one offs or new regular client?

Whenever a quote is provided and both parties agree on the price, we require payment upfront for clients with overgrown lawns, one-off jobs, and new regular repeat clients. We guarantee that we won’t run off with the payment, as we don’t want to face any fraud reports on consumer.org or being posted in community pages for deception. However, it can be quite challenging to chase payments after completing a large job or once a one-off client has moved out of the property. As experienced lawn mowing operators, we understand this all too well.

On call lawn mowing services

• Don’t want to commit to a regular lawn mowing schedule and will contact a lawn mowing service when the lawns have grown or overgrown? The price for this arrangement will be higher than usual and won’t be the same as the previous lawn mowing service we have provided, depending on the growth of the lawns. The lawn mowing contractor must deviate from the planned route to make special trips and adjust the work schedule on the fly.

• Any repeat clients who only reach out to a lawn mowing service when the lawns are medium thick to overgrown are still considered one-off clients. Please verify with us first if we can take on the work before paying in advance using our bank details from the previous invoice, as we will refund the advance payment if we can’t proceed with the job. Advance payments from repeat one-off clients must not obligate or lock us into performing the job request, and we will issue a refund instead. A new price quote may be required for lawns not on a regular mowing schedule, and the price may not match the previous cut depending on the growth changes.

• Only make the payment once we’ve verified and confirmed that we can service lawns that are not on our regular or planned schedule.

Overgrown lawns expectations

Please don't expect that a lawn mowing job for overgrown lawns will look pristine and tidy after the first cut, like lawns that are mowed regularly. Overgrown grass has larger roots underground with plenty of reserve starch or food that the plant uses to quickly regrow after the first cut, as it desperately wants to grow its leaves back to capture sunlight for photosynthesis. The sooner the next cut happens, the better. Lawns can be tamed back after several frequent mowing services.

Do I use a lawn mower with a catcher? Due to the limited options for professional lawn mowers in the New Zealand market and difficulties in quickly sourcing parts for repairs (I had one before, but I couldn't fix it because parts were unavailable), I don’t have a lawn mower with a catcher and do not offer this service. You'll also find that other independent lawn mowing contractors typically don't provide catch mowing for the same reason. Even if I were to get a mower with a catcher, I wouldn't have the storage space at home for the clippings, and it can be quite expensive to take them to the tip after each catch mowing service. Gardening and other odd jobs

Sorry, we don't do gardening and maintenance tasks like weeding, tree cutting, high hedge trimming that needs a specialized ladder or hoist, rubbish removal, landscaping, gutter cleaning, pest control, or anything beyond mowing lawns. I can't store all the necessary tools and equipment to offer these services. We're keeping our operation simple and not overextending ourselves for more revenue, allowing us to show up on time for our clients' lawn mowing schedules. Lawnmowing is something we do meticulously while having fun.
